Types of Forklifts To Meet Your Application Needs
Class I- Electric Motor Rider Forklifts
Class I forklifts are powered by an electric battery, which means they are quieter and have no emissions. These electric motor rider forklifts are good for indoor work. They have a variety of applications, including loading and unloading tractor trailers and handling pallets and other equipment. In past decades these electrics have only been considered for lighter lifting applications but technology has allowed electric sit-down riders (both three-wheel and four-wheel models) to handle many heavy lifting applications.
Class II- Electric Motor Narrow Aisle Forklifts
This class includes order pickers and reach trucks. Both are designed to get into narrow aisles and tight spaces and grab material. Order pickers and reach trucks excel in picking up and putting away product and give warehouses the option for racking space without having to expand the warehouse. These zero emission, environmentally-friendly models are ideal for indoor and warehouse applications for both productivity and air quality.
Class III- Electric Stackers, Pallet Jacks and Tow Tractors
Class III includes pallet jacks, tow tractors, and stackers. Commonly, this classification of warehouse equipment comes with ride along or walk behind options. Pallet jacks, stackers, and tow tractors are used for unloading deliveries and moving materials to a staging area where they can be moved by other material handling equipment.
Class IV- Internal Combustion Engine Cushion Tire Forklifts
Internal Combustion (IC) engine cushion tire forklifts are powered by diesel fuel, liquid propane (LP), gasoline, or compressed natural gas (CNG). This classification is typically used for larger, heavy application needs. The cushion tire type has a smooth ride mainly on indoor surfaces and are designed to not be punctured since they are not filled with air.
Class V- Internal Combustion Engine Pneumatic Tire Forklifts
Class V forklifts are similar to Class IV. They are both powered by fuel options of diesel fuel, liquid propane (LP), gasoline, or compressed natural gas (CNG). The main difference is the type of tires. Whether air-filled or solid, pneumatic tires have treads which are designed to work in outdoor yards like lumber operations, manufacturing facilities, construction sites, and other outdoor areas.
